Adding your server

npmemes watches one channel in your Discord server and keeps every image posted there in a private gallery. Setup is two steps: invite the bot, then pick a name and a password.

Invite the bot

  1. Open the invite link

You need Manage Server on the server you're adding it to. Pick your server, then confirm.

The link requests exactly two permissions, and nothing else:

    • +View Channels — so it can see the channel
    • +Read Message History — so it can archive what's already there
  2. Send two things

There's no signup form yet — this part is handled manually.

    gallery name
What your gallery is called, and its address. Dorm Server becomes /s/dorm-server.
    password
One password for the whole gallery, which you give to whoever should see it.

What the bot can do

It cannot post in your server

  • —No sending messages, no reactions, no DMs
  • —No reading any channel except the one you name
  • —No managing members, roles, or your server

Archiving and posting are two separate programs here. The one holding your server's access has no code path that writes to Discord at all.

If your server grants Send Messages to everyone by default, the bot inherits it. You can deny it on the bot's role if you'd rather it hold nothing at all.
